KOTA is an independent American leather goods brand founded by designer Michael A. Lapinski in New Jersey. Every KOTA bag begins with an idea—often a line, a proportion, or a new way a bag might be carried. From there, each design is developed in the KOTA Studio with an emphasis on form, function, and the character of the leather itself.
We believe luxury should feel personal. Not mass-produced. Not driven by a season. Each KOTA design is created to have its own identity while remaining unmistakably KOTA.

Every KOTA bag begins in our New Jersey studio, developed by hand from the first sketch through pattern, prototype, and final construction.
Working directly with the leather allows us to refine proportion, structure, and function—giving each KOTA bag its individual character.

We select leathers for their character, hand, and the way they develop with use. Every material is chosen to complement the shape and structure of the design.
From the leather and hardware to construction and finishing, each detail is considered as part of the whole.
